Above all, we embody Dignity & Empathy, treating everyone with respect and compassion, and recognizing the inherent dignity in all individuals.Position SummaryThe Academic Coordinator of Youth Programs oversees the Academic Link Day team, ensuring safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments that support academic growth and social-emotional development. This role provides staff guidance on effective classroom management, integration of social-emotional learning strategies, and compliance with Excel Quality Action Plan (QAP) standards and grant requirements (CMS/EMS systems).The Academic Coordinator collaborates with school administrators and YMCA leadership to establish site-specific academic goals and connects programs with community-based academic resources that align with each community's needs. They are responsible for tracking fiscal management, maintaining accurate records, and completing required grant documentation.Demonstrating the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, the Academic Coordinator maintains a strong understanding of youth development programs, fiscal processes, and reporting systems.Job ResponsibilitiesProgram Development & CoordinationDevelop and implement administrative plans, assess site-specific needs, and evaluate academic programs and activities. Oversee curriculum development and evaluation and procure teaching materials as needed. Plan and organize events, including training sessions for staff and community stakeholders. Monitor the QAP process, ensure deadlines are met, and support Site Coordinators. Student Support & Academic Advising Support Academic Link Day staff in developing academic plans and provide academic advising throughout their journey. Compile resources to support student retention, academic achievement, and advocate for additional support for youth and families. Collaboration & Community Engagement Collaborate with school administration, academic advisors, YMCA leadership, and site teams to promote student success. Maintain strong relationships with community agencies and institutions to enhance program effectiveness. Data Management & Compliance Compile documentation and input data for DCYF and Excel grant tracking systems. Conduct monthly attendance audits across all sites. Training & Presentation Lead presentations and workshops for school administrators, parents, and YMCA Youth Development staff. Complete all mandatory safety training and community training as required. Qualifications Must be 21 years or older. High School Diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of experience in youth programs, including supervisory responsibilities. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills (both verbal and written). Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Availability Monday through Friday, with flexibility for evenings and weekends. Clearance of TB test within last 2 years. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree (Education or related field). Experience in youth development, particularly in community-based organizations or school districts. Budget management experience. Bilingual in any language, with preference for Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, or others. Work Environment & Physical DemandsThe work environment is dynamic, with a mix of office, school, and community-based settings. Staff may be required to work in varied conditions, including classrooms, event spaces, and outdoor areas. The position involves regular interactions with children, families, and school personnel.
