Its purpose is to maximize the student's level of academic and community functioning, enabling them to engage in a pattern of everyday living similar to that of typical peers. A key objective of the program is increasing the student's ability to succeed in a less restrictive school environment, reduced structure and increased independence.In addition to the special education portion of the program, this Fred Finch non-public school has the capacity to provide mental health day treatment services for qualified students. The school provides a safe, stable, and highly structured environment by combining intensive staffing, a therapeutic milieu culture, mental health interventions, behavior modification, and a positive peer environment.What You Will Do:The Instructional Aide is responsible for assisting the Education Specialist (Teacher)with classroom activities involving youth and to work with youth giving positive reinforcement and setting achievable academic and behavioral goals. The Instructional Aide may teach in the absence of the Teacher (if they possess a Substitute Teacher Credential).Qualifications:Required High School diploma or GED required. Passing score on the CBEST (The California Basic Educational Skills Test) within 6 months of employment, if hired after December 1, 2007. Demonstrated cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities, and supportive responsiveness to youth who may have experienced trauma Demonstrated understanding of the developmental milestones of the population Demonstrated experience in academic coaching, teaching, or tutoring, preferably with youth with special Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and/or competency with electronic clinical documentation Clean driving record; current CA Driver's License or ability to obtain within 10 days after Preferred B.A. or B.S.
