To provide coordination of teaching, staff activities, participation in the selection of staff, implementation of instructional program, and coordination of Special Education policies and procedures.Performance Responsibilities:Provides leadership in the development of the county's early childhood special education program; coordinates and supervises related activities and services.Evaluates existing programs and makes recommendations for improvements plans for staffing projectionsManages, coordinates and oversees the successful participation in Ohio's Program Licensing and Step up to Quality SystemOversees the Help Me Grow transitionsPlans and presents building orientation for new staff and ensures continued assistance during their first year of employmentAssumes responsibility for the support, supervision and evaluation of certified and non-certified special education staffCoordinates procedures for child identification, referral, evaluations, placement, provision of services, service coordination, and transition.Stays abreast of all legal requirements governing early childhood special education, keeps staff informed of legal requirements and ensures that all requirements under administrative code, state/federal law and board policy are met.Recommends policies and programs essential to the needs of children with special needsAdheres to procedures for identification, evaluation, placement and re-evaluation of students in need of special education and/or related services.Assumes responsibility for district compliance with regulations regarding early childhood special education programs.
