Special Education/Resource Room - Special Education Date Posted: 10/22/2025 Location: Covenant Schools (High-Needs School) Date Available: Immediate District: Covenant Schools Detroit Position: Special Education Teacher Reports to: Principal, Director of Special Education Location: Covenant Schools Detroit Note: Must be certified Salary: $57-$80K Schedule: Monday-Friday 7 hours/dayGeneral Description: The Special Education teacher plans and provides services for students with disabilities. Primary Responsibilities: Manage caseload of Special Education students, including IEP's, REED's & MDR's. Measure student skills and progress using appropriate testing instruments. Draft appropriate IEP's for caseload students. Provide academic support and implement IEP's in both resource room and general ed settings. Advise general ed teachers of appropriate accommodations for students with IEP's. Coordinate testing accommodations for students with IEP's. Submit all required reports and documentation related to special education. Participate in Child Find process and Special Education PLC Collaborate with school administrators regarding the discipline of students with disabilities. Maintain accurate digital and/or paper files for special education students. Collaborate with all school staff to deliver appropriate special education services. Additional responsibilities as assigned. Essential Skills and Abilities: Ability to work collaboratively and independently Strong written and verbal communication skills Highly organized Attention to detail Knowledge of and aptitude for student information systems and software related to special education Knowledge of special education procedures Qualifications: Michigan Special Education teaching certificate Successful experience as a classroom teacher in special education] Satisfactory completion of criminal history check This job description is a summary of the responsibilities, duties, knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualifications associated with this position.
