Job Description: Pay Range: $47.64hr - $103hr The Electrical Designer will lead and coordinate the design and drafting of complex electrical systems and equipment for industrial and infrastructure projects. This role involves developing 2D and 3D CAD designs, preparing construction drawings, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and supporting project execution through collaboration with engineers and other disciplines. The candidate will also assist in the design development of electrical systems and equipment for the Sentinel Project, ensuring adherence to all relevant procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Responsibilities: Lead and manage the work of electrical designers and drafters, ensuring quality and compliance with standards. Develop designs for complete and complex electrical systems including earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing. Prepare 2D and 3D design models, layouts, and construction drawings using SmartPlant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD. Ensure electrical system designs meet all installation codes, regulations, and standards. Support and train junior designers, providing guidance and technical direction. Model electrical rooms, equipment, cable trays, conduits, duct banks, lighting, and receptacles in a 3D environment. Prepare bills of materials and installation details for modelled components including grounding, lightning protection, and supports. Perform calculations using AGI 32 for lighting layouts and ETAP for ground grid layouts. Coordinate 3D model activities with other physical disciplines to resolve interferences and ensure design accuracy. Develop material specifications using SpecsIntact. Participate in constructability reviews and provide technical input for project optimization. Review electrical design scope changes and assist project management as needed. Conduct site visits as required to resolve field issues or interpret design documents. Prepare design and drafting procedures to standardize design processes and improve efficiency. Education and Experience Requirements: Associate degree or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 7 8 years of experience, or 9 12 years of relevant work experience. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Required Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge and application of NEC, NEMA, ANSI, and IEEE standards. Experience using SmartPlant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD. Proficiency in electronic Cable Management Systems such as SETROUTE. Experience with electrical system drawings for industrial, nuclear, or process facilities, data centers, or utility plants. Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Broad understanding of electrical engineering design principles, schematics, and layouts. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience in developing and reviewing engineering deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Familiarity with client corporate guides and standards. Experience with quality assurance programs (e.g., ISO-9000). Previous experience on DoD, DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA projects preferred.
