Job Overview:
The Patient Access Representative, Emergency Department Access Services, accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs.
Qualifications:
Required:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
* Medical insurance verification and authorization experience preferred
* Patient Access experience preferred
* Knowledge in all aspects of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care preferred
* Medical terminology and computer skills
Scheduling Requirements:
* Full-Time, Evening shift
* Week 1 - Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 5:00pm-1:30am
* Week 2 - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday 5:00pm-1:30am
* Holiday and Weekend on-call rotation
* Training includes two days of orientation, three days Revenue Cycle training 8:30am-5pm, three days EPIC Training in Oceanport, NJ 8am-4:30pm
Essential Functions:
* Responsible for coordinating and facilitating registration and admissions by obtaining pertinent demographic information, collecting accurate insurance information and performing inpatient authorizations in order to financially clear inpatient hospital accounts
* The ideal candidate must be detail oriented and promote patient satisfaction
* Service orientated background, good written and verbal communication skill and accurate typing ability
* Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessary
* Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude
* Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments to foster a team environment
* Participate in training through the development of training tools, presentations at department in-services or staff meetings, or through the training of registration staff outside the patient access department
