Disqualifiers:Please refer to the complete list of disqualifications when completing the City of Parma Employment Application.Working ConditionsThe Parma Police Department is a 110-officer department that is dedicated to providing the highest quality police services to the residents, businesses, and visitors of the City of Parma. The department is comprised of the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief of Police, four captains, six lieutenants, and ten sergeants. The remaining 92 officers serve full-time as detectives (15), motorcycle officers (10), K-9 unit (5), school resource officers (2), and patrol officers. The Patrol Division operates permanent 12-hour shifts with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Ancillary specialty assignments include S.W.A.T., Field Force, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Bicycle Patrol, Drone Operator, Honor Guard, Field Training Officer, and Range Instructor. The department participates in multi-jurisdictional units including the Southwest Enforcement Bureau (S.W.A.T.). U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, Ohio HIDTA (Drug Trafficking), and the F.B.I.'s Joint Terrorism Task Force. Officers are required to complete a field training program after hire.
