Summary

The dock worker is responsible for loading and unloading trailers with product in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Directs the work of the dock workers in a productive and efficient manner.
  • Assure that load paperwork is completed correctly.
  • Operate forklift and/or skid steer to load and unload trailers.
  • Conduct safety and maintenance inspections daily on motorized industrial equipment prior to operating.
  • Assure product is not contaminated and is of quality material being sent to buyers.
  • Assure material is safely stacked.
  • Ensure employees are working in a safe manner and following safety protocols.
  • Pick up trash around facility and clean shop floor as needed.
  • Recognize and comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
  • Recognize and separate grades of recyclable material.
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Supervisor Responsibility

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and oversight that procedures and regulatory compliance are observed, and customer satisfaction.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to the elements, fumes, varying degrees of hot or cold temperatures, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires frequent sitting, standing, grasping and maneuvering, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing and down all day. The employee must frequently lift items over 50 pounds and push or pull items up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education and Experience

  • Vocational Training and/or 1 year of previous Forklift and Skid Steer experience
  • Forklift and Skid Steer Certification
  • Must be at least 18 to drive motorized industrial equipment
