Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Café Manager to lead our bustling café operations located inside the National Aviary. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for food service, and a comprehensive understanding of restaurant management. This role involves overseeing daily café activities, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. The Café Manager will be responsible for managing staff, controlling inventory, and ensuring smooth operations in a fast-paced environment that combines casual dining, quick service, and catering services.

Duties

  • Supervise daily café operations, including food preparation, service, and cleanliness to ensure a seamless customer experience
  • Manage staff scheduling, training, and development to foster a motivated and efficient team
  • Oversee food safety protocols and ensure compliance with health regulations
  • Handle cash management, POS transactions, and financial reporting
  • Control inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food production to minimize waste and optimize costs
  • Implement and monitor quality standards for food presentation and service delivery
  • Coordinate with set up of small in-house events, VIP parties, and special functions as needed
  • Lead staff training programs on food handling, customer service, and safety procedures
  • Manage shift operations ensuring timely service during peak hours in quick service settings
  • Address customer inquiries or complaints promptly to maintain high satisfaction levels
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and delivery

Experience

  • Proven management experience in a restaurant or café setting with supervisory responsibilities
  • Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen management, and food safety standards
  • Experience with POS systems
  • Background in hospitality management or food service management is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with inventory control, budgeting, and cost management in a food industry environment
  • Prior experience in casual dining, fine dining, catering, or hotel food service is advantageous
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and develop team members effectively
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on hospitality excellence
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced setting
