THE ROLE 

We are seeking an experienced IT Data Engineer to join our team in Panama.

DUTIES 

  • Develop and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures to support the reporting function.
  • Assist with the maintenance of business databases and their related applications.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data engineering tools.
  • Assist with the creation and management of scalable data architectures such as data lakes and data warehouses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including data architects, analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders—to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data systems.
  • Optimize data workflows for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues and implement improvements.
  • Document data processes, schemas, and best practices.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A university degree in a field relevant to data engineering: Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology OR.
  • Recognized, current and relevant industry certifications: Fabric Data Engineer Associate, Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, etc.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, database design, and data integration strategies.
  • Relevant and proven industry experience including working with engineering tools and platforms in the Microsoft technology stack (Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Power BI, etc.).
  • Strong understanding around security and data protection concerns regarding data handling.
  • Ability to assess complex problems and propose solutions even without the benefit of clearly defined objectives as well as being able to work well alone or in a team environment.
  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Experience developing and maintaining data architecture standards, policies, and 
    procedures.
  • Relevant financial and compliance industry experience.
