Cleveland, Ohio, United States Coach Sam's Scholars Full time $35,000 - $60,000 per year

Purpose: Coach Sam's Scholars, a nonprofit that provides academic and social-emotional support to underserved youth, is seeking two tutors for an after-school program. The program serves 24 students across 2nd, 3rd & 4th grade.

Program Operations: Coach Sam's program operates 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) from 3:30-5:30, everyday that school is in session. Tutors must be available and present for all session days. This is a temporary position, to end on December 23rd.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with another tutor to provide meaningful, and fun instruction using Coach Sam's Scholars curriculum, including one-on-one and small group instruction.
  • Attend Saturday morning meetings every other month
  • Track student attendance and progress
  • Ensure that the site has all needed materials (supplies, books, snacks, etc).
  • Act on constructive feedback provided by Coach Sam's staff.
  • Build professional relationships and communicate regularly with parents/guardians, school staff, and Coach Sam's staff.
  • Provide social-emotional support to help students develop confidence and perseverance in their learning.
  • Maintain a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment.
  • Follow all program policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with students in a tutoring, teaching, or mentoring capacity preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Punctual, reliable, and professional in interactions with students, parents, and personnel.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Speak, read, and write English fluently

Requirements:

  • Completion of a background check prior to tutoring.
  • Availability to commit to the full duration of the program.
  • Participation in required tutor training sessions
  • Be certified in CPR or be willing to become certified
