SHIFT: M - F 1:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
This is a safety-sensitive position and requires a pre-employment drug screening.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cockpit Window Mechanic is an entry-level, hands-on aerospace technician position responsible for the repair and overhaul of a wide range of cockpit windows in accordance with Pacific Aero Tech (PAT) specifications, component maintenance manuals (CMMs), and FAA regulations. Working under close supervision, the mechanic applies basic mechanical and technical skills to ensure compliance with federal aviation regulations, industry standards, and company procedures. This position plays a vital role in maintaining airworthiness, product quality, and safety while supporting our FAA-certified repair station operations.
All work is performed in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines under 14 CFR Part 145, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) regulations. This position requires adherence to safety-sensitive protocols, participation in the company's FAA-mandated Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, and compliance with internal quality control systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform entry-level repair and overhaul operations on cockpit windows using established work instructions and approved technical data.
· Demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude including safe and correct use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and calibrated equipment.
· Follow FAA and company documentation standards to identify, label, and track parts using applicable repairable tags and traceability procedures.
· Read and interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, and CMMs.
· Handle materials and window components with care, following any special handling or contamination control requirements.
· Conduct visual inspections and assessments in accordance with Part 145 repair station quality standards and documented acceptance criteria.
· Operate specialized equipment such as sandblasters, paint booths, industrial ovens, PAT heat tables, DSLR/FLIR cameras, and light tables, adhering to proper operating and safety procedures.
· Mix, apply, and cure paint and sealants as directed, ensuring chemical safety compliance with OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.
· Maintain work documentation, repair logs, inspection forms, and digital entries using internal software and ERP systems.
· Participate in required training programs including safety, ergonomics, HAZMAT, and FAA Repair Station training.
· Maintain clean, organized work areas in compliance with Washington State WAC 296 standards.
· Support quality assurance audits and continuous improvement efforts.
· Adhere to PPE requirements and environmental health and safety guidelines.
· Report any non-conformances, safety issues, or equipment malfunctions immediately to supervision.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated basic mathematical competency, including measurements and unit conversions.
- Ability and willingness to learn and effectively navigate ERP systems for tracking work and inventory.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, for documenting maintenance and inspection activities.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English to interpret technical documents and complete required records.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug and alcohol screening in accordance with FAA regulations and company policy.

- Regularly required to reach, bend, twist, and stretch while handling parts and tooling.
- Must have strong hand-eye coordination and visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors, assess fine details, and adjust visual focus.
- Prolonged periods of standing or sitting depending on task assignments; frequent walking and movement within the production area.
- Must be capable of lifting, moving, and positioning components or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Regular verbal communication required; must be able to speak clearly and hear instructions or alarms in a potentially noisy work environment.
- Must maintain clean, organized work areas in compliance with company housekeeping standards and Washington State workplace safety laws.
- Work is performed in both office and production environments. Exposure to airborne particles, odors, temperature changes, and chemicals may occur.
- All employees must comply with the company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy and safety programs. Use of food or drink in production or chemical-handling areas is prohibited.
