Want to make a direct impact on donor safety while building your leadership skills?
Join our team at KEDPLASMA and lead the critical first step in the plasma donation process — donor screening. This is your opportunity to combine customer service, healthcare processes, and leadership in a supportive, community-focused environment where every detail matters.
As a Screening Lead, you'll oversee the screening area, ensuring each donor's health and eligibility are carefully evaluated while maintaining smooth operations and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. You'll also train and mentor staff to deliver an exceptional donor experience from the moment they walk through our doors.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee daily operations of the screening area, ensuring all donor screening procedures are carried out efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with regulatory standards and company SOPs.
- Perform donor identification, registration, and verification to confirm eligibility.
- Assess donor health and suitability by reviewing self-administered health history forms and conducting vital signs measurements, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
- Perform fingerstick blood sampling to check hematocrit and total protein levels.
- Identify pre-donation risk factors or deferral criteria based on donor health information, vital sign results, and behavioral risk assessments.
- Monitor donor reactions during the screening process and coordinate with medical staff as needed for intervention.
- Train new and existing staff on proper screening procedures, equipment use, safety protocols, and donor service expectations.
- Maintain a smooth donor flow from registration through screening, minimizing wait times while ensuring thorough evaluations.
- Keep the screening area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies; change supply lot numbers as required when new lots are introduced.
- Perform routine equipment calibration, maintenance, and cleaning per established schedules.
- Review donor records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with cGMP and regulatory requirements.
- Handle minor donor relations issues and support donor retention initiatives through professional, courteous, and compassionate service.
- Maintain confidentiality of all donor, staff, and center information, following data privacy and security protocols.
- Support marketing and promotional efforts to attract and retain donors by explaining donation benefits, fee structures, promotions, and the impact of plasma-based therapies.
- Answer donor and public inquiries in a friendly, professional manner, providing accurate information or directing calls to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in plasma or blood collection, healthcare, or a regulated environment preferred.
- Leadership or training experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on donor care.
- Ability to follow strict protocols and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
- Comfortable using computers and data entry systems.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and remain on your feet for most of the workday.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards such as FDA, cGMP, PPTA, and OSHA is beneficial.
- Comfortable working in environments with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and cold storage areas (-40°C) for short periods.
