Title: Server Assistant / Busser

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Front of House Manager

Position Summary

The Server Assistant is responsible for providing a clean and pleasant dining experience by clearing, sanitizing, and resetting tables. They ensure that the restaurant is well stocked with necessary items such as polished silverware, plates, napkins, and polished water glasses.

Essential Functions Statement:

  • Prepare dining areas before guests are seated
  • Decorate tables with candles, napkins, linens, and flowers
  • Place tableware and condiments on tables
  • Serve water and welcome snacks, like breadsticks
  • Refill beverages and take orders
  • Remove dirty utensils and replenish as needed
  • Clean and reset tables after guests leave
  • Maintain health and safety regulations in all kitchen and dining areas

Competency Statements:

  • Work experience as a Busser, Food Runner or other entry-level role in a restaurant is a plus
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
  • Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
  • Degree in hospitality or restaurant management is a plus
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knife techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting and dicing
  • Ability to stand in one place for hours at a time, handle extreme heat and work shifts

Supervisory Responsibility

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a Restaurant setting. The candidate who fills this role can expect to work in a busy dining room with a lot of activity. The work environment is often loud and fast-paced with the majority of the shift spent on your feet.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position with mostly afternoon and evening working hours. Normal hours vary. Hours and work shift may change in accordance with business needs.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Must be able to accomplish any and all duties with little to no assistance.
