Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed wound evaluations to determine the most effective treatment plans.
  • Develop and implement individualized wound management strategies utilizing advanced techniques such as suturing, dermal fillers, and esthetic laser treatments when appropriate.
  • Administer specialized treatments including IV infusions, Botulinum toxin therapy, catheterization, and spinal taps to support wound healing and pain management.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care involving case management, discharge planning, and collaboration with physicians across specialties such as gastroenterology, infectious disease care, geriatrics, and behavioral health.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, and Athenahealth for accurate documentation of patient encounters, CPT coding for procedures, and medical records management.
  • Provide triage services via telehealth or in-person consultations to prioritize urgent cases in urgent care or emergency room settings.
  • Perform laboratory specimen collection/processing and participate in clinical research initiatives to advance wound care practices.
  • Educate patients and families on wound care techniques, infection control measures, nutrition's role in healing, and post-discharge instructions to promote optimal recovery at home or assisted living facilities.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information across various healthcare environments including ICU, PICU, neonatal units, or hospice settings.
  • Support infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during procedures such as sterile processing or dressing changes.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through training on new technologies like sonography or telehealth platforms to enhance patient care delivery.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Nurse Practitioner with a focus on wound care or related fields such as acute care nursing, hospital medicine, or medical-surgical units.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or similar platforms for documentation and coding purposes.
  • Hands-on experience performing complex procedures such as suturing, dermal filler injections, catheterization (including Foley catheters), venipuncture (phlebotomy), IV insertions/infusions, and sterile dressing changes.
  • Critical care background with ICU or Level I/II trauma center experience preferred; familiarity with trauma protocols is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10/ICD-9 coding systems for accurate medical documentation and billing processes.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (pediatric wound management), geriatrics (memory/dementia/dementia care), neonatal units (neonatal ventilator use), or patients with developmental disabilities.
  • Skilled in managing complex cases involving infectious diseases or post-operative wounds within outpatient clinics or inpatient settings.
  • Strong understanding of physiology principles related to tissue repair and pain management strategies for acute pain relief.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using laboratory testing or medical imaging techniques such as sonography for comprehensive assessments.

Pay: $95, $114,440.48 per year
