Structural Intern

The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our growing team. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting a variety of projects, including building structures for government, public, and private clients. The successful candidate will work alongside and learn from Senior Structural Engineers, gaining exposure to structural design, site evaluations, and construction documents. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring engineer pursuing their Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification to apply classroom knowledge in a professional environment.

Your Role:

• Assist structural engineers with design tasks including calculations, layouts, sizing, and coordination.
• Support preparation of Structural Construction Documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Participate in site visits with senior staff to observe existing structural systems or ongoing construction.
• Help review project design work, RFIs, and submittals under supervision.
• Collaborate with the project team to ensure timely, accurate deliverables.
• Receive mentorship from Senior Engineers and opportunities to participate in training sessions and project meetings, helping you develop the skills needed for a successful engineering career.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (junior, senior, or recent graduate).
• Interest in pursuing Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Prior engineering-related internship, coursework, or project experience (preferred but not required).
• Exposure to AutoCAD and/or Revit with basic knowledge of MS Office.
• Familiarity with structural materials (steel, concrete, wood, masonry) and knowledge with structural load development is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a professional environment.
