Required qualities for successful LPN's:

  • Current New York State registration and license to practice as a Licensed Professional Nurse or Registered Nurse.
  • Must be physically able to assist and help staff personnel to lift, turn, move, or transfer residents when necessary, observing proper body mechanics and/or using the mechanical lift when indicated.
  • The ability to effectively work with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental representatives, and the public.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, tact, patience, and enthusiasm in working with residents based upon their level of current functioning.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, to utilize creative problem-solving techniques and to handle problem areas with diplomacy.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to supervise, manage, evaluate, and teach, as well as the capacity to grasp new theories, structures and principles and apply them appropriately.
