 Manages the maintenance operations to keep the plant operating safely and optimally on a daily and long term basis; manages and develops the skills of the department crew members; and works with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and maintain production equipment and the physical environment to meet changing business opportunities. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. 


Requirements

Training or experience in product production and quality factors including training in HACCP and experience in the principles and practices of S.S.O.P, G.M.P and SQF; training or experience in personnel management.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the oversight and direct monitoring of compliance with all critical control point operations within the maintenance of the production areas and equipment. The Technician works with the Maintenance Supervisor, Chief Operating Officer and other department supervisors to ensure that all critical control operations are met throughout the plant. The food safety/quality duties of the Maintenance Technician would be backed up by the Maintenance Supervisor with support from other Maintenance Technicians. 

Key Job Duties:
  1. To maintain the physical plant in the best condition for long term operation, including all plumbing, electrical, flooring and structural components.
  2. Coordinate capital projects with the Chief Operating Officer, senior management and Production Supervisors, including research and equipment trials.
  3. To ensure all plant equipment is in top operating condition.
  4. To coordinate with the QC department and production departments to ensure routine maintenance schedules meet production and food safety needs.
  5. Maintain all fork lifts, pallet jacks and other industrial trucks in good operating condition and coordinate with Warehouse and the Production departments to ensure necessary lifts are available. 
  6. To provide a safe environment for the operation of the plant and the safety of all employees.
  7. To work with the Quality department to ensure procedures are in place, documented and followed as required to meet the food safety guidelines and regulations.
  8. To develop procedures to maximize efficiency within the plant maintenance operations and maintain operational capacity as required to meet production  needs.
  9. Manage all third party maintenance including securing and negotiating third party contracts for items including HVAC, refrigeration, power equipment, electrical services, water supply and security.

Salary Description
Pays $24 to $26 per hour based on experience
