Position Summary:

The Tribal Adult Protective Services (APS) Worker is responsible for investigating reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults' tribal members within the Quapaw Nation Reservation. The APS Worker provides culturally sensitive intervention and protective services, coordinates resources, and ensures the safety and well-being of at-risk adults, while respecting tribal sovereignty and traditional values.

Essential Job Functions and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults (age 18+). Conduct home visits, interviews, and assessments to determine risk and capacity. Develop and implement service or safety plans to protect individuals from harm. Coordinate emergency interventions when necessary, including law enforcement, medical services, and shelter. Collaborate with tribal and external service providers such as healthcare, behavioral health, prosecutor, and elder care programs. Maintain detailed and confidential case records in accordance with tribal, state, and federal requirements (e.g., ICWA, HIPAA, etc.). Participate in multidisciplinary teams, case staffing, and community outreach activities. Advocate for the rights and needs of vulnerable adults. Attend court hearings Stay informed of applicable laws, tribal codes, regulations, and best practices regarding elder protection and adult services. Provide community education and prevention trainings for elder abuse and APS services. Assist in planning and development of APS program.   Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate courses of action. Ability to review data for accuracy. Maintaining accurate records and documenting. Follow verbal and written instructions. Other responsibilities, as assigned.

Non-essential Job Functions:

Participate in juvenile/ APS determination meetings, attend other meetings and seminars as necessary. Participating in training and professional development to stay current with best practices and legal requirements.  Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, Psychology, or related field (master's preferred) Two (2) years of experience in social services, preferably in adult protection, elder care, or case management Knowledge of tribal culture, customs, and traditions Strong communication, crisis intervention, and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the reservation and to client homes Must pass a background check and drug screening Knowledge of tribal sovereignty, elder rights, and trauma-informed care preferred

Physical Abilities:

Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, as well as regular reach above the shoulders; must be able to push, pull and lift up to and including 50 pounds without experiencing physical discomfort or pain. Must be able to travel occasionally for business purposes, attendance of seminars, lectures, etc.

Working Conditions:

The work is performed in an office environment with no disagreeable conditions. Occasionally, in state and out of state travel may be required.
