Testing and Inspection Technician

The Testing and Inspection Technician will oversee the operation of the test bed at the Wilmington site as well as product inspection and testing, employee certification testing, and mode of failure evaluations.
Essential Functions:
- Operate and manage the Test bed's overall function at the Wilmington facility, including product inspections, in-house product testing, employee certification testing, customer product testing, and mode of failure evaluations.
- Understand, operate, and correctly store tools, measuring devices and testing equipment (other than the Test Bed i.e., gap gauges, calipers, and punches).
- Conduct tests, diagnostics and calibrations pertaining to the Test Bed.
- Repairing/fabricating rigging where applicable.
- Engineering ways to rig up less commonly tested items.
- Maintain appropriate rigging materials/tools to be used at the Test Bed
- Collaborate with maintenance teams and Chant engineering on improvements and calibrations on the test bed.
- Troubleshooting issues with the test bed and offer suggestions for continuous improvement.
- On-site Inspections of products to ensure quality and safety standards.
- Time studies to help with profitability in the testing department.
Maintenance
- Acts as the primary contact for the Maintenance needs for the Wilmington facility.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
- Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed safely, effectively, and in a timely manner.
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of company product codes and terminology.
- Good analytical skills and ability to make sound judgments.
- Understanding of basic mathematical computations and geometric concepts.
- Experienced in ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Trained to become certified inspector for certain brands. Training will be provided.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid forklift truck certification required.
- At least 3-5 years of experience required.
- Exceptional work experience with the company preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse the operations facility.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time and 75 pounds max.
