WHO WE ARE:
Fiercely independent. Passionately creative. Fueled by data and the power of AI.
Ayzenberg Group, based in Pasadena, CA, is one of the largest, privately held advertising and media companies on the West Coast. We're a culture of curiosity, filled with player/coaches who care deeply about the work from the top down, and team members with an entrepreneurial mindset. We are an equal opportunity employer.
"Okay, nice jargon, but what does that actually mean?" Good question.
Basically, we believe we can do the best work possible while still being kind, collaborative and respectful to everyone involved.
We strive to macro (not micro) manage and give all team members the support and freedom they need to thrive—both professionally and personally.
We're also deeply passionate about where the industry is headed—especially when it comes to AI. From creative automation to predictive insights and smarter media strategy, we're not only leaning into but creating the tools and technologies shaping the future of marketing, and we're looking for teammates who are excited to grow with us in that space.
In a nutshell, whether you're a client or a team member, we want you to love it here.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
An experienced
Senior Software Engineer
to guide our software engineering team as we build cutting-edge AI-powered marketing tools and solutions.
This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a
hands-on approach
to coding and development. You'll be joining a young, ambitious team that embraces modern development practices and isn't afraid to leverage AI tools to accelerate our work.
(**We can't stress this enough Our ideal candidate will spend significant time coding alongside the team while providing technical leadership and guidance.)
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership:
Provide technical direction and architectural guidance for our AI-powered SaaS platform and client projects. Champion best practices while staying pragmatic about delivery. - Hands-On Development:
Actively contribute code across our Python/FastAPI backends and React/Remix frontends. We expect 60% of your time to be hands-on coding. - Team Coordination:
Manage sprint planning, task assignments, and help engineers troubleshoot technical challenges. Ensure the team maintains high standards while meeting deadlines. - Mentorship:
Guide junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical discussions. Foster their growth while maintaining our culture of innovation. - Modern Development Practices:
Embrace and refine our "light" spec-driven development approach. We value shipping quickly and iterating based on feedback over heavy process. - Infrastructure & DevOps:
Maintain and optimize our serverless GCP infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes. Experience with Cloud Run, MongoDB Atlas, and Redis is valuable. - AI Integration:
Work with cutting-edge AI tools including LLMs, Google ADK, and our proprietary models. Help the team leverage AI effectively in both our products and development workflow. - Collaboration:
Partner closely with Product, UX, and other stakeholders to deliver features that delight our users and drive business value.
WHAT WE'LL (FOR SURE) BRING TO THE TABLE:
- A competitive salary and great benefits package, including full medical, dental, and vision
- A matching 401(k)
- Paid maternity/paternity leave
- Pet insurance
- Monthly wellness benefits (to spend however you like on your own well-being)
- Annual education credit (for anything from Masterclass, to LinkedIn certifications, to a cooking or tango class—have fun with it)
- Unlimited PTO and paid holidays
- A supportive, fun, and respectful team environment
- The opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI technologies
WHAT YOU'LL (IDEALLY) BRING TO THE TABLE:
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 3-5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 1 year in a technical leadership, mentorship, or team lead role
- Strong full-stack development skills with production experience in:
- Backend:
Python, FastAPI, REST APIs - Frontend:
React, TypeScript/JavaScript, modern frameworks experience a plus) - Databases:
MongoDB, Redis - Cloud:
GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions) or equivalent AWS/Azure experience - Proven ability to balance hands-on coding with team leadership responsibilities
- Experience with modern development practices and tools (Git, CI/CD, containerization)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues across the stack
- Strong communication skills - you can explain technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with AI/ML applications, LLMs, or prompt engineering
- Familiarity with our specific stack: Remix, MongoDB Atlas, Google ADK, LiteLLM, Langfuse, Airflow
- Experience in advertising, marketing, or SaaS product development
- Knowledge of observability tools and best practices
- Experience with Tailwind CSS and component libraries (ShadCN)
- Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly evolving requirements
What Success Looks Like:
You're excited about building AI-powered tools that transform how marketers work. You appreciate modern development approaches and aren't stuck in "the way things have always been done." You can provide technical leadership while respecting that product and technology decisions are collaborative. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where we ship often and iterate based on real user feedback.
So, if you've read this far and have that butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling, please apply -- we'd love to hear from you
