Maintenance Supervisor – Baked Food Manufacturing

Location:
Los Angeles, CA

Position Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees day-to-day maintenance activities on shift for a high-volume baked food manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, CA. This role provides hands-on leadership to maintenance technicians, ensures proper execution of preventative and corrective maintenance, and supports production to keep lines running safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise a team of maintenance technicians, mechanics, and utilities personnel on assigned shift.
  • Assign daily work orders, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of repairs and PM tasks.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting support and serve as a technical lead for equipment issues.
  • Support training and skill development of maintenance staff.

Maintenance Execution

  • Oversee troubleshooting and repairs on equipment such as ovens, mixers, conveyors, dough systems, proofers, packaging machinery, and utilities (compressors, boilers, chillers).
  • Ensure PM work is completed accurately and documented in the CMMS.
  • Respond quickly to production line downtime, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with equipment setup and changeovers to minimize delays.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Enforce all safety protocols, GMPs, FSMA, HACCP, and plant sanitation requirements.
  • Partner with QA and Production to ensure food safety and audit readiness.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free maintenance shop environment.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support reliability-focused initiatives such as improving PM effectiveness, reducing unplanned downtime, and upgrading work processes.
  • Provide input on equipment upgrades, modifications, and process improvements.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventative actions.

Communication & Coordination

  • Maintain clear communication with Production, Sanitation, Quality, and the Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide detailed shift reports, including completed work, downtime events, and follow-up needs.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing, ideally baked food manufacturing
  • 1+ years of team lead or Maintenance Supervisor experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with ovens, conveyors, mixers, packaging systems, and utilities equipment.
  • Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, and food manufacturing safety standards.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems.
  • Ability to be on-site in Los Angeles, CA
  • Bilingual English/Spanish REQUIRED*
