Job Type: Full-time, Seasonal position, Non-exempt, Hybrid, 32 hours per week

Founded in 2014, Bicycle Transit Systems (BTS) is a woman-owned business with a mission to operate bike share systems that create connections in our communities and protect our planet. We operate and manage a portfolio of bike share systems across the United States, as well as a nation-wide customer service call center. We are currently looking for an exceptional Digital Marketing Coordinator to join our Los Angeles team

The Digital Marketing Coordinator will be primarily responsible for planning and executing a digital and print content strategy that is engaging, informative and in line with Metro Bike Share's brand and objective. The Digital Marketing Coordinator will create, schedule and manage all user communication via organic social media and email newsletter content for Metro Bike Share. The Digital Marketing Coordinator will update and create new content for printed and digital marketing communications including the Metro Bike Share website and app, printed handouts and kiosk and bike decals. The Digital Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the creation of the Metro Bike Share brand and voice, and maintaining brand guidelines. This position will be a hybrid schedule of remote and in-office work located in South LA as well as attendance at major open street events (CicLAvia) and occasional rides and events throughout the Metro Bike Share service areas.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and execute digital and print marketing campaigns that drive engagement, promote programs, increase ridership and align with LA Metro project team goals.
  • Create and publish engaging content—including newsletters, social media posts, and design materials—that support marketing and outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Experience Manager, Brand Ambassador team, and LA Metro project team to ensure cohesive digital strategies that align with overall marketing objectives.
  • Edit, proofread, and refine content to maintain a consistent and professional brand voice.
  • Develop and implement clear communications plans for service alerts and system updates through push notifications, email, banners, and text messaging.
  • Use content management systems and analytics tools to evaluate website traffic and engagement metrics, making data-driven decisions to improve performance.
  • Manage and optimize content distribution across online and social media channels to increase visibility, web traffic, and participation.
  • Create and share event listings and digital promotions to increase awareness and attendance at rides, classes, and community events.
  • Maintain and oversee the editorial calendar in alignment with LA Metro marketing timelines and priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with WCAG accessibility and PII data protection standards.
  • Stay informed on digital marketing trends and generate innovative ideas to attract and retain audiences.
  • Represent Metro Bike Share at public events in alignment with our community engagement strategies.
  • Support Outreach and Events via engaging content and planning such as Station Destinations and Ride Guides.
  • Provide content and administrative support for Metro Bike Share digital engagement programs (e.g., B4B, Pedal Perks, Buy in Bulk, Reduced Fare).
  • Manage the internal budget for all printed materials, decals, and related marketing collateral.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent job-related experience in communications, marketing or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, content strategy planning, digital marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Superb writing skills.
  • Attention to detail: reviewing drafts, editing copy.
  • Ability to create fun and engaging content with tight deadlines
  • Proven experience in establishing and managing internal and external stakeholders on projects.
  • Excellent organization and written and verbal communication skills to both internal and external teams and partners.
  • Self-starter and problem solver.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, ability to thrive in a flexible and constantly changing environment.
  • Experience with social media platforms.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp and WordPress and Hootsuite.
  • High proficiency in Excel, Word, Google Applications, and ability to learn new software.
  • Excitement about bike share.
  • Experience in health and wellness, active transportation and/or brand marketing industries preferred.
  • Sense of humor.

Physical Requirements and Special Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to ride a Metro Bike while in the field, at events, or in the warehouse.
  • Hybrid schedule of remote and office work at the local warehouse (3 days in the office, one day remotely).
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record that passes insurance requirements for the company.
  • Comfortable driving, stopping and working in busy outdoor urban environments
  • Will require outdoor work in various types of weather.
  • Required standing or sitting for several hours straight at a time.
  • Frequently lift to 50 lbs. and carry for up to 100 feet.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with company and department policy.
  • Repetitive motion required of the wrists, hands, or fingers occasionally throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly in person or via phone/video conference throughout the workday.
  • Will require travel within the Greater Los Angeles area.
  • This is a full-time position expected to work 32 hours per week (4 days per week, 8 hours per day). Some hours outside of this, including nights and weekends, may be required.
