As a System Hardware Reliability Engineer, TPU systems. You will work closely with an integrated engineering team to reduce the risk of system hardware failure at customer data center sites. You will support hardware quality and reliability needs to ensure the best possible hardware performance and customer experience. You will be a hardware reliability expert to quantify and monitor the system repair trends. You will be an expert in statistical analysis and reliability statistics such as Homogeneous and Non-Homogeneous Poisson Process, Mean Cumulative Function, and degradation analysis among others. You will leverage your experience in failure analysis of hardware systems, particularly relating to solder joint reliability, Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), and thermal interface among others.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:
  • Lead system hardware reliability efforts by working with partner organizations in identifying potential failure-inducing factors for our TPU systems at customer data centers.
  • Define a plan to manage the system hardware reliability needs for TPU system deployments at customer data centers, including managing early installation issues, monitoring and improving times to repair, monitoring delivered system hardware availability under customer workloads, monitoring random failure events, and early detection and actioning of wearout or unexpected system failure trends.
  • Extract system field reliability data and, using investigative skills and reliability principles, obtain information needed to drive failure analysis efforts, identification of root causes of failure, and creation of actionable insights to improve customer experience.
  • Manage efforts with external partners, testing labs, failure analysis labs, and cross-functional internal groups, while developing in-house test and qualification capabilities where needed.
