Position Overview:
The Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) for Disability Law Center (DLC) is responsible for oversight of the financial affairs of the agency in accordance with sound financial principles and government regulations. This position makes recommendations on establishment of major economic objectives and policies. The DFA is responsible for performing complex work involving the creation and maintenance of financial records, protecting and maintaining the financial integrity of the organization and supervising office and personnel management. The DFA directs the development of the budgets, financial statements, completion of Federal Financial Reports (FFRs), payroll and all other financerelated duties; manages and coordinates assigned human resource functions at DLC; and oversees office management. The DAF ensures that DLC develops comprehensive financial policies and budgets and complies with all financial requirements, as well as ensuring the efficient operation of DLC's office administration and personnel services.
Essential Functions:
• Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting,including complex fund and grant accounting, compliance, andreporting.
• Deep knowledge and understanding of the Office of Management andBudget (OMB) Uniform Guidance
• Manage accounting operations and ensure that all functions are completed in a timely manner.
• Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including payroll, accountspayable, accounts receivable, and cash management.
• Performing bank reconciliations, performing account reconciliations between the general ledger and subsidiary ledger, account reconciliations between the general ledger and financial statements.
• Preparing billing invoices and maintaining accounts receivable accounts. Ensuring timely receipt of receivable accounts and follow-up to maintain cash flow.
• Preparing financial statements including income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows.
• Manage employee time reporting and allocation of expenses among programs.
• Manage multiple federal, state and private grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements as well as organizational policies andprocedures.
• In coordination with the CEO, develop annual agencybudget and monitor monthly performance againsttargets.
• Communicate with management on spending discrepancies
• Oversee purchase, lease, and maintenance of equipment and contracts with major vendors, office supplies, and library materials.
• Assist DLC Board Treasurer, as needed, in developing financial informationfor board review.
• Manage and support the annual audit and tax return preparation.
• Maintain Accounting Policy and Procedure Manual, initiating updates as needed to improve agency's systems and internal controls.
• Develop budgets for new grant applications.
• Coordinate unemployment and workers' compensation issues.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field required; MBA or MA in relevant field preferred;
• CPA license preferred but not required.
• 5-7 years of nonprofit finance experience
• Understanding of the relationship between finance and program functions.
• Experience with accounting software including but not limited to GP Dynamics, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience handling confidential matters discreetly; flexibility with changing situations; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, funding agency personnel, and the Board of Directors.
• Knowledge of personnel services including records, reporting requirements, fringe benefit programs, wage and hour regulations, workers' and unemployment compensation requirements.
• Excellent Communication skills
• Experience performing complex assignments, prioritizing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and working well under pressure.
Working Conditions:
DLC offers a hybrid telework schedule where employees may work at home and in the office. The Director of Finances and Administration will perform work in the office, remotely, and, at times, attend staff events.
Compensation
: $70,000-$110,000 annually DOE with excellent benefit packages that include health insurance, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan; paid vacation, sick and personal days.
Travel:
This position requires occasional in-state and out-of-state travel, including potential overnights or multiple days.
