Role And Responsibilities
As a GPU Modeling Engineer you will work as part of the GPU Hardware Modeling team, where you will be responsible for functional and performance modeling of various blocks of the GPU pipeline. This is a mid- to senior-level role with responsibilities to include the following:
- You interface with architects, RTL designers, verification engineers and software engineers to understand the GPU pipeline
- You design and architect C++ models of a GPU blocks
- You develop and maintain functional and performance models of complex systems and validate to ensure accuracy and completeness
- You ensure that models are up-to-date and consistent with the latest design specifications
- You identify areas for optimization and improvement in functional and performance models
- You implement and test the GPU models.
- You simulate the model's behavior to validate functional and performance characteristics
- You identify architecture, micro-architecture, and implementation optimizations to improve the functionality and performance of the GPU and its units
Skills And Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or 8+ years of experience with a Master's Degree, or 6+ years of experience with a PhD
- 8+ years of experience in hardware design and architecture
- Expertise in C++ programming, including STL, in a Linux environment
- Deep understanding of GPU/CPU or computer architecture and micro-architecture concepts
- Experience using development tools such as revision control systems, debuggers, and make/cmake
- Hardware modeling experience
- Experience with performance profiling and analysis
- Some familiarity with SystemVerilog is preferred
- RTL verification experience is a plus

Our GPU Architect team delivers whole system architecture-level design for Samsung's current and next-generation mobile GPU. Depending on the functional discipline, they're responsible for anywhere from early-stage architectural exploration, research work focusing on graphic and machine learning, defining new features, modeling, to diving into microarchitecture design and programming work.
Total Rewards
At Samsung – SARC/ACL, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,200 and $297,200. Your actual base pay will depend on variables that may include your education skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. This is an exempt position, which is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Samsung employees have access to benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), free onsite lunch, employee purchase program, tuition assistance (after 6 months), paid time off, student loan program, wellness incentives, and many more. In addition, regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) are eligible for MBO bonus compensation, based on company, division, and individual performance.
Additionally, this role might be eligible to participate in long term incentive plan and relocation.
