The Quality Improvement and Compliance Network staff assist with supporting the operational and clinical aspects of North Range Behavioral Health. This position requires the use of independent judgment, originality, and the application of support, technical, and human relations skills as they relate to process improvement activities and data/reports to meet quality and compliance-related requirements. Assists the team with maintaining and monitoring quality improvement systems and clinical documentation standards across the organization. Will assist in improvements as needed. Staff assist the Quality/Compliance Network with project tasks and assignments. Report results to oversight bodies as directed.
Quality Improvement is the foundational component utilized in the evaluation of behavioral health services within North Range Behavioral Health. The philosophy is embedded in practice by adopting quality assistance and a user-friendly approach that emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, and systemic changes. The outcome of quality is to provide customers with a wide array of quality, cost-effective, and efficient services that improve the health, safety, and well-being of individuals within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Document standard operating processes and prepare routine reports; assist with the development of policies and procedures that lead to compliance and improve programs and processes. Design and implement internal surveys related to quality activities for staff. Analyze data and report findings. Ensure effective chart review process; analyze and evaluate charts; summarize and share findings with appropriate supervisors and managers; investigate progress notes for accuracy of clinical content and procedure billing codes. Identify clinical staff in need of chart documentation training; develop training material, and conduct training for managers, supervisors, and staff as assigned. Develop and implement tracking forms and systems to audit chart documentation to federal, state, and county regulations; identify and recommend methods to streamline procedures and improve efficiency. Collaborate with supervisors to prepare for audits by governmental entities and other partners, and funders, and serve as a leader in such audits. Evaluate audit findings of non-compliance with agency and/or regulatory standards. Aid the staff in implementing the CAP, including providing/arranging training and identifying additional resources for the staff to implement the plan. Manage critical incident processes; work with supervisors, managers, and staff to report critical incident(s) according to policy and procedure; provide debriefing and support services as necessary. Collect and analyze data for numerous agency programs to determine compliance with quality standards (i.e., level of service, capacity, client satisfaction, etc.), review productivity, and assess quality improvement trends, prepare and provide recommendations for remediation when needed. Identify training needs and collaborate with the Chief Culture Officer to conduct staff development activities/training with an emphasis on improving quality, documentation, and the efficacy of clinical work on a regular basis. Work with teams to identify efficiency gains driven by training and quality initiatives. Report statistical findings to various constituents (i.e., board members, colleagues, community, and community consumer advocate groups, etc.) in an easily understandable manner. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for Mental Health Care Providers and Addiction Counselors. May provide oversight for grievance and complaint processes; assure the quality of work meets all relevant rules and regulations, and agency policy. Research data and information requirements and prepare preliminary analysis; prepare accurate and timely reports/recommendations for action based on findings. Represent the department in committee, agency, and community meetings as necessary. May provide management support for other agency managers as requested by Administrative Directors.
Education/Credentials:
Experience:
3 years' experience in a health or behavioral health care setting working in quality improvement, quality assurance, or risk management. Experience leading groups in the assessment of programs and processes, development of solutions, and implementation. Experience in the development and management of in-service training and education is highly preferred.Knowledge Of:
Federal, state, and local regulations regarding delivery and documentation of behavioral health services. Electronic health record documentation practices Rules and regulations of insurance documentation requirements Professional and ethical guidelines as outlined by the State of Colorado. Educational and continuing education requirements for licensed behavioral health professions in the State of Colorado. Quality improvement and compliance activities, indicators, methodologies, and standards of quality assurance. Organization structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Organizational sensitivity regarding complex relationships with federal, state, and local agencies, government entities, and grant funders.Skills/Abilities to:
Prevent errors by continuously clarifying and improving processes. Create and present information and instructional education materials, train adult learners in small and large groups, adjusting training methods as needed. Plan, organize, time manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments. Use effective follow-through. Read, analyze, and interpret related professional periodicals, journals, financial reports, technical procedures, or government regulations on a regular basis. Write and speak clearly and succinctly in a variety of communications settings and styles; summarize findings and present them in ways easily understandable to the audience. Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy of the information, including the ability to organize large amounts of data and track multiple projects simultaneously, setting priorities for analysis and use in consultation with numerous stakeholders.
