Position Title:Lead Family Education Support Mentor

Status: Full time with benefits

Location: This position requires frequent in-person work and travel to other sites across greater Minnesota.

Salary Range: $60,000 to $65,000 depending on qualifications

Position Summary:

The Lead Family Education Mentor plays a critical role within the Family Education Supports Collaborative, funded by an RPO grant and led by KOM as the Lead Agency. This senior role provides strong peer leadership within the cohort of Family Education Support Mentors working across the collaborative with children 0-5 years, but primarily youth K-12 students and youth up to age 24. The Lead Mentor ensures consistent and effective implementation of coordinated services on the ground. This position will support case management, referrals, and ensure shared practices across all partners. The ideal candidate will be proactive, have experience with the MRIS system, strong leadership abilities, and be passionate about education and refugee services.

Responsibilities:

Program Coordination and Case Management:

  • Acts as the point person for all incoming referrals, assisting with eligibility and priority screening, designating case assignment, and responding to referring entity.
  • Ensures that all referrals are responded to promptly, and participants are connected with appropriate services in a timely manner.
  • Monitors collaborative Family Education Support Mentors for accurate documentation and data entry in MRIS (Minnesota Refugee Information System) to ensure compliance and efficient service delivery.

Leadership and Peer Support:

  • Provides leadership and peer support within the cohort of Family Education Support Mentors across the collaborative, promoting a sense of community and teamwork.
  • Facilitates virtual and in-person collaboration ensuring mentors remain connected and supported.
  • Ensures all partner agencies' work aligns with funder contract requirements and fidelity to the service provision model by facilitating peer file reviews, presenting data at regular meetings, and providing 1:1 data entry training as needed.
  • Prepares for and leads bi-weekly cohort meetings to proactively engage Family Education Support Mentors in shared practices, processes, and tools, promoting consistency in service implementation across the state of Minnesota.

Problem-Solving and Resource Sharing:

  • Serves as the first point of contact for Family Education Support Mentors when they encounter challenges in implementing the services or need support identifying resources.
  • Facilitates the sharing of state-wide and region specific resources, knowledge, and tools among the cohort to improve service delivery and problem-solving capabilities. May include actively recruiting guest presenters, developing trainings, or finding available free development opportunities available.
  • Actively works with Family Education Support Mentors to troubleshoot issues, identify solutions, and escalate concerns to Lead Agency management when necessary.

Collaboration and Partnership Development:

  • Regularly meets with the Lead Agency's Program Director and Collaboration Facilitator to ensure the implementation of collaborative priorities, processes, policies, and tools across all partner agencies.
  • Puts into writing and promotes the adoption of shared practices, processes, and tools by all Family Education Support Mentors, ensuring a consistent, high-quality approach to serving refugee families.

Programmatic Support and Evaluation:

  • Uses data to evaluate program effectiveness and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the collaborative.
  • Leads the development and refinement of service implementation tools, processes, and practices that align with ORR requirements and the collaborative's goals.
  • Participates in regular meetings with Lead Agency management and other partners to assess program progress and identify areas for improvement.

MRIS Expertise:

  • Utilizes the MRIS system for at-least weekly data entry monitoring, referral management, and pulling reports on participant outcomes, ensuring compliance with program requirements. Helpful to have experience with Excel pivot tables to produce regular data summaries for the collaborative.
  • Creates written materials and provides training and ongoing support to Family Education Support Mentors in using MRIS to ensure accurate and timely documentation of services provided.

Required Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, education, human services, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in direct service roles working with youth, preferably within refugee or immigrant-serving organizations.
  • Proven leadership or peer support experience, with the ability to mentor and guide others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong understanding of mentorship models
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex workflows and partnerships.
  • Experience facilitating virtual collaboration tools such as MS Teams or other platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and cohesion among partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with the MRIS system is highly desired but not required.
  • Experience with the Check and Connect model
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, while ensuring timely, high-quality service delivery.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural competency, with experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience in problem-solving and conflict resolution within a collaborative or team setting.
  • Knowledge of ORR programs and refugee resettlement services is highly preferred.
