Teaching Assistant – After School Program & Preschool

Job Description:

We are seeking a loving, kind, passionate, energetic, friendly, and knowledgeable Teaching Assistant to join our after school program and preschool team. This role includes transporting students from local schools (training provided). The ideal candidate will be flexible in working with various age groups (PreK–5th grade), able to manage groups of students, and actively engage them in academic and enrichment activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Student Support & Classroom Engagement

  • Assist students with homework completion and track academic progress
  • Facilitate age-appropriate learning, games, and arts & crafts
  • Provide positive classroom and behavior management

Transportation Responsibilities

  • Safely pick up students from designated area schools and transport them to our facility
  • Take daily attendance and ensure student accountability

Behavior Management

  • Address discipline concerns respectfully and consistently
  • Report major or ongoing behavior issues immediately to the Program Director
  • Submit incident reports by the end of the program day and notify the Program Director right away

Administrative & Program Support

  • Assist with classroom setup, breakdown, and maintaining a clean environment
  • Help prepare educational materials and activity supplies

Non-Program Hours

  • Attend scheduled trainings and professional development sessions
  • Participate in facility cleaning days as designated
  • Support promotional or family engagement events when neededQualifications
  • Loving, kind, genuine, and responsible personality
  • Passion for helping students learn and succeed
  • Enjoys working with children and fostering their growth
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children
  • Able to supervise homework and facilitate group activities
  • Strong classroom/group management skills
  • Ability to drive a 15-passenger van (training provided)
  • Clean driving record for at least 5 years
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with patience and maturity
  • Must pass a background check

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $21.00 per hour
