Supportive housing - affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term - is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness. But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home. Located in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, the East Flatbush Safe Havens is comprised of 110 beds for individuals not yet ready to transition into permanent housing, as well as those who may have struggled in other housing programs. East Flatbush Safe Haven offers an alternative to life on the street: private, safe, clean, and affordable short-term accommodations. On-site case management and clinical services are available to meet the needs of its residents and to help those ready to move into secure permanent housing. HousekeeperReporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, the Housekeeper is a part of the department that maintains the common areas of the safe haven. Examples of common areas include offices, multi-purpose rooms, roof deck, garden, trash collection area, lobby, fitness room and sidewalks. Client areas will also be cleaned. This position has a 35-hour work week, onsite.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:Sweep, mop, wash, dust, and vacuumSeal, wax, and buff floors and hard surfacesMaintain sidewalks, including sweeping, raking leaves, and shoveling snowClean individual units when vacated or requested by work orderSort and package recyclables to comply with NYC regulationsOperate compactorSet up and clean up for meetings and other eventsAssist painters and engineers when assignedPerform work at other facilities as requiredPerform other related duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Comparable work experienceExperience operating of vacuum cleaner, high speed bufferAbility to lift and move furniture, appliances, etc. High School Diploma, GED, Trade School Diploma, or equivalentAbility to stand for several hours during shift and to climb stairs in the event of an emergencyExperience working with special needs populations a plusBasic knowledge of using a computer is a plus, but is not required   EOE/M/F/Vet/Disabled
