Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Metrology Calibration Laboratory Supervisor to oversee and support the daily operations of our calibration lab. This role involves supervising a team of technicians, maintaining compliance with metrology standards, and ensuring calibration accuracy and documentation integrity. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical metrology knowledge, leadership experience, and the ability to complete and maintain necessary certifications and qualifications as required by industry and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Staff Management
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of calibration and metrology technicians.
- Assign workloads, monitor performance, and provide real-time coaching and feedback.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training; lead performance evaluations.
- Ensure all staff follow safety protocols and adhere to company quality system procedures.
Calibration, Validation, & Maintenance
- Oversee calibration, validation, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment and measurement standards.
- Perform or delegate calibrations in accordance with ISO, NIST, and internal standards.
- Troubleshoot advanced calibration and equipment issues.
- Maintain and Support troubleshooting for all laboratory equipment including but not limited to HPLC, GC, LC-MS, Spectrophotometers, etc.
- Ensure traceability and proper functioning of all instruments.
- Maintain clear and accurate calibration records.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards including ISO 17025, GMP, and NIST traceability.
- Support and participate in internal and external audits.
- Write, Develop, and review standard operating procedures and Qualification Protocols.
- Identify, report, and address quality or compliance issues.
- Maintain thorough documentation and implement process improvements.
Technical Support & Communication
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
- Communicate calibration results, issues, and updates to internal departments and clients.
- Collaborate with quality assurance, sales, and operations teams.
- Liaise with vendors and external service providers when needed.
Operational Efficiency
- Develop and manage calibration schedules and lab workflow.
- Monitor and improve operational performance and turnaround time.
- Participate in production and planning meetings; communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
Certifications & Qualifications
- Stay up to date with evolving industry standards and complete any necessary qualifications or re-certifications related to metrology and laboratory quality systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of metrology principles, calibration techniques, and measurement standards.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience in a lab or technical setting.
- Deep understanding of ISO 17025, GMP, and quality system requirements.
- Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Metrology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 5+ years of calibration and metrology experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Ability and willingness to complete necessary certifications (CCT or equivalent preferred).

Pay: $100, $130,000.00 per year
