Job Summary

The Assistant Cook and Shift Supervisor is responsible for lunch and dinner preparation and supervision of the employees who assist with those meals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Skillfully follows recipes to prepare soups, salads, desserts, breads, main dishes, and side dishes from scratch
  • Has a thorough understanding of food service safety and sanitation
  • Demonstrates compliance with regulations imposed by the Cass County, MO Health Department and enforces those regulations with subordinates
  • Determines corrective action for a wide variety of personnel and food-related questions under supervision of Food Service Manager
  • Supervises kitchen personnel and food service operations
  • Has a thorough knowledge of food items available and in inventory, including storage location
  • Shuts down the facility after the day's last meal

Job Qualifications

  1. Required Qualifications

  2. One or more years of college

  3. Be food service trainable
  4. Maintain a good working relationship with customers
  5. Able to lift and transfer 45 pounds

  6. Able to work evenings and weekends

  7. Preferred Qualifications

  8. Restaurant or cafeteria experience

  9. Culinary training
