Job Summary

The Prevention Education and Outreach Coordinator is a full-time staff position reporting to the Associate Director of UChicago CARES. The Coordinator provides professional support for developing, delivering, and evaluating prevention education and outreach programs related to harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct, with a focus on undergraduate students. Working with moderate guidance, the Coordinator assists in designing training offerings, coordinating educational events, and supporting program implementation across campus. The role also helps assess the effectiveness of current programs and maintains records of education and outreach efforts, contributing to the University's ongoing efforts to foster a safe and inclusive community. The Coordinator also works closely with colleagues within EOP to create and maintain a holistic approach to prevention, education, support, and response in support of all members of the campus community, consistent with the University's compliance efforts related to non-discrimination and UChicago CARES core values.

Responsibilities

Prevention Education

  • Supports the implementation of prevention education and outreach programming related to harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct for the campus community, specifically undergraduate students.

  • Assists in the delivery and coordination of mandatory sexual misconduct prevention training, including student orientation sessions and resource fairs.

  • Collaborates with UChicago CARES leadership and campus partners to tailor educational materials and resources to meet the needs of diverse student populations.

  • Participates in the development of print and digital resources (such as pamphlets, posters, newsletters, and website content) to promote awareness of prevention initiatives and University resources.

  • Facilitates presentations, workshops, and training sessions on topics including consent, healthy relationships, and campus policies.

  • Responds to referrals and provides targeted educational sessions for individuals or small groups, as needed.

  • Assists with evaluating feedback on training programs and education efforts, helping to identify areas for improvement.

  • Administers participant evaluations and maintains records of training and outreach activities.

  • Contributes data and summaries for annual reports and participates in regular meetings to discuss program effectiveness.

  • Stays informed about best practices in prevention education through training, professional development, and campus committee participation.

Campus Partnerships

  • Works with academic divisions and student groups to coordinate and support prevention education activities.

  • Assists in organizing events such as roundtables, speaker sessions, and "train the trainer" workshops under the guidance of CARES leadership.

  • Participates in outreach efforts to engage student leaders and broaden participation in prevention initiatives.

  • Develop and implement a campus leadership summit for student leaders, culminating in CARES becoming a hub for student engagement in prevention education.

Data, Reporting, Assessment

  • Assists with evaluating feedback on training programs and education efforts, helping to identify areas for improvement.

  • Administers participant evaluations and maintains records of training and outreach activities.

  • Contributes data and summaries for annual reports and participates in regular meetings to discuss program effectiveness.

  • Stays informed about best practices in prevention education through training, professional development, and campus committee participation.

  • Co-Chair the Office of the Provost Campus Partner Task Force on Sexual Misconduct and will work in collaboration with the Office of the Provost Student Advisory Board on Sexual Misconduct.

  • Maintain complete records of all prevention, education, and outreach efforts related to sexual misconduct throughout campus. Create annual reports of outreach and education efforts, as part of UChicago CARES annual report.

  • Participate in conferences, Ivy Plus annual meetings and monthly calls, workshops, and trainings on- and off-campus to stay current in the field and connected to campus partners.

  • Serve on related committees as requested.

  • Works with moderate guidance to design and evaluate instructional programs, materials, and methods for the implementation of University-wide business systems and processes.

  • Administers front-end needs assessments, identifying key learning outcomes, writing training objectives, applying and modifying various instructional design methods, designing practice activities and scenarios, sequencing instructional content, and writing tests and learning assessments.

  • Defines new content for and updates to online manuals and user reference documentation.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Experience leading trainings related to harassment, discrimination and/or sexual misconduct.

  • Experience providing evidence-based prevention trainings to university students, particularly undergraduate students.

  • Advanced ability to utilize technology.
