Opportunity:

Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their team in the metro Detroit area. This is a full-time, contract-to-hire opportunity, with potential for direct hire after six months based on performance.

The Quality Engineer will play a key role in supporting and advancing quality initiatives across manufacturing systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of customer expectations and lead internal efforts to ensure those standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, generate, and maintain APQP and PPAP documentation
  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations for product issues; document findings using the 8D methodology
  • Collaborate with customers and suppliers to address and resolve quality concerns
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on quality-related topics
  • Review and assess supplier processes, identifying and implementing improvement opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management systems
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to drive continuous improvement and enhance product quality

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of Quality or Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Experience in a medium- to high-volume Tier 1 manufacturing environment (2+ years preferred)
  • Working knowledge of PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and GD&T
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with computer-based quality tools and reporting systems
  • Ability to travel locally to customer sites (approximately 25% travel)
