Health & Safety Specialist III - Power Generation/Distribution

Implements and oversees health and safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations in the electrical power industry. Conducts inspections, risk assessments, and training to promote a safe work environment. Supports emergency response, outage/storm work, and maintains safety documentation and compliance records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and recommend engineering or procedural controls.
• Interpret and apply safety regulations across facilities, equipment, and work processes. Maintain a safe
workplace in compliance with applicable regulations and laws issued by state and federal agencies
• Perform inspections (routine, spot, and special) and track corrective actions.
• Develop, implement, and monitor safety standards, procedures, and training programs.
• Lead safety meetings, orientations, and accident investigations; document findings.
• Manage AED/First Aid and fire extinguisher programs; serve as instructor.
• Oversee industrial hygiene monitoring and address health hazards (e.g., asbestos, lead, noise).
• Support emergency response, storm coordination, and outage work.
• Demonstrates proactive ownership of responsibilities by independently identifying opportunities for
improvement, initiating solutions, and driving tasks to completion with minimal supervision. Prioritizes
work to meet deadlines, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and safety standards.
• Maintain compliance with insurance, DOT
• Administer Lockout Tagout program and device tagging programs.
• Lead Near Miss/Good Catch program and safety committees.
• Conduct equipment inspections (scaffold, ladders, fall protection, respirators, etc.).
• Serve as confined space rescue lead, fire watch, and excavation competent person.
• Manage chemical labeling/inventory.
• Vet contractors and support internal and external safety orientations.
• Develop and deliver specialized safety training and job briefing/JSA audits.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure timely updates to meet regulatory standards.
• Pursue professional development and contribute to continuous safety improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance; work outside scheduled hours as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Technical Certificate in Safety/Health or related field (BCSP, CUSP, CLCP) plus 5 years of experience, or 8 years of relevant experience in safety. Strong knowledge of OSHA, industrial hygiene, and safety program implementation. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to create, edit, and manage documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and email communications. Capable of using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for collaboration, file sharing, and communication.
Required Certifications
• - FA/CPR/AED Certified (Instructor preferred or obtained within 3 months of hire)
• - OSHA 30-hour
• - Certified Forklift Trainer (or obtain within 3 months of hire)
• - Mobile Elevated Work Platform Trainer (or obtain within 3 months of hire)
• - Valid Arkansas Driver's License
Preferred Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
• -Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) credentials (e.g., CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST)
• -OSHA Outreach Trainer (OSHA 500/501)
• -Rigging and Signal Person Training from an accredited organization
• -Competent Scaffold Trainer
• -OSHA Excavation and Trench Safety (Competent Person)
• -Defensive Driver Trainer (Smith Driving, National Safety Council)
• -Public Speaking & Accident Investigation certificate/experience
• -Fall Protection Competent Person Training from an accredited organization
• -Confined Space Competent Person Training from an accredited organization

• Travel up to 60%; work in all weather conditions.
• Physically demanding role requiring lifting to 100 lbs. and frequent movement in variable temperatures.
