Resident Engineer

About the role
Techno is seeking a Resident Engineer who will report to the Chief and Deputy Chief of Construction, while under the supervision of the Engineer of Construction (EOC). The Resident Engineer will manage day-to-day contractor activities at New Jersey Marine Terminals. This role oversees Stage IV construction projects, including schedule and budget adherence, contract administration, coordination with Facility Operations, construction inspections, and ensuring work is completed safely and in compliance with all approved documents.
What you'll do
- Supervise Engineers, Inspectors, and Administrators to ensure quality and safety of construction work.
- Monitor contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and approved shop drawings.
- Administer contracts, approve payments, negotiate change orders, and resolve contractor issues.
- Represent the Engineer of Construction in their absence, managing correspondence and documentation.
- Oversee Stage IV construction schedule, staff, and budget.
- Report project status to Executive staff and mentor team to achieve departmental goals.
Qualifications
- Must have at least seven (7) years of Construction Management experience, including three (3) years' experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing a staff of Engineers and Construction professionals.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance or SIDA at Airports or TWIC at Ports.
- OSHA 30
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills as evidenced from experience in managing and settling contractor disputes.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $40 - $80 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
