Candidates should be versatile, eager and able to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment. Our interns will have the flexibility of working 2 days remotely, and 3 days in office per week at one of our state-of-the-art offices in Chicago, Kansas City, and New York City. To be eligible for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in a university or college program and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the internship year. The Site Reliability Engineering team is hiring for a Site Reliability Engineering intern.
The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team is responsible for performance tuning and capacity

planning for multiple high performance, ultralow latency financial exchanges. The SRE team also

provides operational support for these exchanges to maintain system availability and optimal

performance. The SRE team works closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, and

Network Engineering teams to troubleshoot complex issues, to coordinate and support platform

configuration updates, and to leverage new cutting-edge technologies. The SRE intern role is a great

opportunity to learn about complex software systems and financial markets.

Your responsibilities and learning objectives will include:

• Providing technical support to sustain resiliency and high availability of financial exchanges
• Analyzing performance metrics and optimizing the latency of the exchanges
• Collaborating with Infrastructure/Development teams for technology upgrades and migrations
• Supporting Cboe's Incident Management process to resolve and investigate technical issues
• Driving and implementing capacity planning decisions for Operations
• Developing, testing, and maintaining automation and monitoring tools

The ideal candidate has:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place.
• Desire to learn about technical operations for a financial exchange
• Advanced Linux command line knowledge
• High level of proficiency in Python and SQL
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

You'll really stand out with:

• Ability to read and evaluate C++ (or similarly complex OO languages)
• Knowledge of stock and options trading

Our pay range for interns is determined by function and education level. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $ $42.00 per hour. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay target for new hires working in the position full time.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by years of education completed. In addition to base pay, eligibility for our total rewards program may include benefits such as 401 (k) with a generous company match and paid sick time.
