Position: Residential Counselor

Locations: Arlington, MA

Salary: $21.63 per hour

Schedule: Full-time, Part-time, Evenings, Weekends-only, Overnights

Walnut Street Center is a nonprofit human service agency that provides support services to adults with Intellectual Disabilities, assisting them in living engaged and meaningful lives: opportunities to live, work, volunteer, and socialize within the community.

Who we are looking for:

Seeking Residential Counselors to help empower adults with intellectual disabilities to make more meaningful life choices by working directly with those individuals in one of our many programs.

The Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring community engagement
  • Assisting with ensuring a livable environment
  • Participating in the development, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of each individual's goals
  • Providing therapeutic support and assisting in Behavior Support Plans, if appropriate
  • Transporting individuals
  • Medication Administration
  • Assisting individuals with Activities of Daily Living such as feeding, dressing, toileting, and other aspects of personal care, and nutritional needs

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to drive
  • Ability to pass a driving and background check
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Card
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to complete training both online and in-person

Preferred:

  • Previous human services or long-term care experience is strongly preferred
  • CNA/HHA experience preferred
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
