Auction Assistant

Job Overview:

We are looking for an Auction Assistant to support the daily operations of our auction house. Primary responsibilities include researching, describing, and pricing items for sale; assisting with item intake (handling, measuring, and moving fine art and antiques); and providing support during and after auctions. We operate on Bidsquare, Liveauctioneers, and Invaluable. Having previous experience with one or more of these auction platforms is beneficial, but not required. The ideal candidate will have a background in fine art and antiquities.

Duties:

• Cataloguing (research, describe, and price items for auction)
• Item intake (lifting, handling, measuring, moving items)
• Inventory and consignment management
• Customer assistance when needed
• Help maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Provide support to other team members as needed

Skills:

• Computer literacy
• Experience in, or ability to learn Google Docs, Drive, and Sheets
• Experience in, or ability to learn Bidsquare, Liveauctioneers, and Invaluable
• Experience in, or ability to learn Dropbox
• Basic math skills, including the ability to perform math calculations
• Experience with cash handling and operating cash registers is preferred
• Ability to lift and care for valuables
• Ability to drive and hold a valid driver's license is preferred
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
