Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC)

Location: Richmond, VA| Monday–Friday, Day Shift

EPIC Health Partners is a mission-driven behavioral health organization focused on delivering person-centered care with excellence and compassion. We are expanding our team and seeking Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC) to join our ARTS Program as group facilitators.

Position Summary

As a CSAC at EPIC, you will facilitate therapeutic group sessions and support individuals through their recovery journey from substance use. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about evidence-based care, collaboration, and making a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead psychoeducational and therapeutic group counseling sessions
  • Assist clients in setting and reaching treatment goals
  • Ensure timely and compliant clinical documentation (DBHDS, DMAS, EPIC standards)
  • Collaborate with supervisors and directors to ensure quality outcomes
  • Provide crisis support and service coordination
  • Foster a safe and recovery-focused environment
  • Attend staff meetings, clinical supervision, and ongoing training

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field (Required)
  • Current CSAC certification (Required)
  • 1+ year of experience in mental health and/or addiction services
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Negative TB screening
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of substance use disorders and relapse prevention
  • Ability to lead structured, therapeutic group sessions
  • Understanding of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
  • Strong communication, documentation, and time management skills
  • Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented
