Job Title: Grocery Clerk Position Summary

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor to provide customers with an exceptional shopping experience. This role involves stocking shelves, rotating products, assisting customers, and ensuring store standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities Customer Service

  • Greet customers in a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Assist customers in locating products and answering questions about items.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service at all times.

Stocking & Merchandising

  • Stock shelves, displays, and coolers with incoming products.
  • Rotate stock following FIFO (First In, First Out) guidelines to maintain freshness.
  • Ensure shelves and displays are clean, organized, and properly labeled.
  • Set up promotional displays as directed by store management.

Inventory & Backroom

  • Unload and process incoming shipments.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and report low-stock items.
  • Organize backroom storage areas and follow safety procedures.

Store Standards & Safety

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment throughout the store.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling guidelines.
  • Assist with price checks and tagging as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Previous retail or grocery experience a plus but not required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
