Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive mental health care to patients across various settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and assisted living facilities. This role requires a strong understanding of psychiatric principles, excellent patient assessment skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide medication management and psychopharmacological interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
- Perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations to monitor mental health conditions.
- Administer treatments such as IV infusion, botulinum toxin treatment, and dermal fillers as needed.
- Engage in case management activities including discharge planning and utilization review.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives to advance psychiatric care practices.
- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
Skills
Candidates should possess a diverse skill set that includes but is not limited to:
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks.
- Experience in critical care settings including ICU and Level I/II trauma centers.
- Familiarity with behavioral health practices and acute pain management techniques.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems.
- Ability to perform procedures such as suturing, venipuncture, catheterization, spinal taps, and airway management.
- Strong background in geriatrics, pediatrics, hospice & palliative medicine, and senior care.
- Experience with telehealth services and outpatient care models.
- Competence in performing physical assessments and vital sign monitoring.
- Understanding of infectious disease care protocols and infection control measures.
