  • Provide leadership and oversight for the emergency department nursing staff.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the emergency department nursing staff.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive work environment for all employees.
  • Ensure that emergency department nursing staff are trained and competent in all aspects of emergency nursing care.
  • Ensuring that all patient care documentation is accurate, complete, and timely and that all nursing staff are trained in electronic health record systems and other technology used in the emergency department.
  • Ensuring that the emergency department complies with all regulatory requirements, including patient safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness.
  • Ensure compliance with Trauma Designation requirements and standards of care.
  • Develop and implement trauma protocols and procedures with the medical director and other healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient care and satisfaction.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement activities.
  • Manage the emergency department nursing staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage the emergency department budget to include staffing, equipment, and supplies, and work closely with hospital leadership to identify cost savings and process improvement areas.
  • Participate in trauma-related performance improvement activities.

Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers to ensure prompt transfer of trauma patients to higher-level care facilities, as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required.
  • Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency nursing, with at least two years in a leadership role.
  • Must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire, ACLS within 90 days
