Duties

  • Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight across designated routes.
  • Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to verify safety standards and mechanical condition.
  • Plan optimal routes for timely deliveries while complying with all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Secure freight properly within the trailer to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and vehicle inspections in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any issues encountered on the road.
  • Assist with special loads such as refrigerated goods or tanker freight, following specific handling procedures.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams for efficient load & unload operations and ensure compliance with safety protocols during yard activities.
  • Adhere strictly to safety regulations related to driving hours, load securement, and vehicle maintenance to promote a safe working environment.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a truck driver with a focus on commercial driving across various vehicle types including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and safely over long distances or urban routes.
  • Prior delivery driver experience involving load & unload tasks in diverse settings such as warehouses or distribution centers.
  • Familiarity with route planning software or GPS systems for efficient navigation.
  • Experience handling freight loads with specialized equipment like forklifts or roll-off trucks is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to trucking operations including hours of service (HOS), vehicle inspection protocols, and load securement standards.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication skills with dispatch teams and customers.
