We are currently seeking a Family Services Specialist. The Family Services Specialist will provide classroom instruction, specialized services, counseling, and comprehensive case management to formerly incarcerated men and their families. Utilizing parenting skills and healthy relationships, and supporting re-entry and transition processes, the Family Services Specialist will promote strong family dynamics and address the impact of separation and incarceration on children and the family unit.

Salary:$30.22-$31.32

Requirements:

Essential Duties:

  • Provide outreach to potential clients and screen them for program enrollment.
  • Orient clients to the program, describe its objectives, and provide ongoing support and education to clients and their family members.
  • Facilitate group services related to parenting and job readiness, both virtually and in person. These groups are conducted in accordance with the approved program curriculum.
  • Provide individual counseling to fathers to increase participant coping skills, facilitate good familial communication and interactions, and support family reunification and strength.
  • Develop service plans based on participant needs to increase emotional, psychological, and economic stability within the community and family environment.
  • Participate in case conferences with program staff to determine participants' progress and job readiness.
  • Collect and properly upload any/all relevant documentation needed to comply with program services on time.
  • Document all services rendered via progress notes into the program's electronic database promptly. This includes Osborne's database (ECM) and the funding source's database, where applicable.
  • Provide appropriate referrals and follow-up services to assist in the achievement of service plan goals.
  • Offer formerly incarcerated fathers, mothers, and their families a safe and neutral environment in which to play, talk, learn, and interact with each other.
  • Coordinate special events (i.e., graduations) and other activities for families and children.
  • Identify needs and implement service changes as needed, in consultation with the Program Manager and the funder.
  • Conduct outreach to recruit and educate the community about services offered, as needed.
  • Attend required training
  • In-person attendance is required to collaborate with co-workers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, or related field; instead of a degree, two additional years of experience providing case management and group facilitation
  • Two to four years of progressive work experience supporting a social service organization
  • Experience providing case management, counseling, and group facilitation

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, pay strong attention to detail, and have time management skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Proficient in database management, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • Excellent assessment, treatment planning, and problem-resolution skills
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and build strong relationships
  • Ability to travel locally
