eNGINE
is hiring a Mainframe Security Engineer to join one of our largest financial services clients. This role is part of a specialized team that provides enterprise-wide mainframe security governance, vulnerability management, and compliance oversight. You'll act as a subject matter expert on mainframe security systems, working closely with engineering and information security teams to design, audit, and enforce z/OS security controls.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a Mainframe Security SME supporting day-to-day operations, analytics, and project-based vulnerability management initiatives.
  • Guide projects related to asset modeling, security documentation, and hardening of z/OS environments.
  • Provide training and daily support to client staff on in-house vulnerability tools and mainframe utilities.
  • Leverage zSecure Audit to assess configurations, analyze findings, and recommend remediations.
  • Utilize ACF2, TSS, or RACF to strengthen mainframe access controls and align with industry security frameworks (STIGs).
  • Communicate across cross-functional engineering and cybersecurity teams to resolve issues and maintain compliance posture.
  • Support ongoing mainframe hardening efforts, penetration testing, and z/OS security consulting.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of Mainframe Security experience within large, regulated environments.
  • Expert knowledge of Broadcom ACF2 and/or Top Secret (TSS).
  • Hands-on zSecure Audit experience (7–10 years).
  • Proficiency in z/OS vulnerability management and STIG-based hardening.
  • Skilled in REXX, IBM SyncSort, and ICETOOL scripting.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills with experience collaborating across engineering and infosec teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • z/OS security consulting or penetration testing background.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management processes.
  • Experience using JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint.
  • BS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent work experience — 15+ years mainframe security).
