Sr. Ground Segment Systems Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Ground Segment Systems Engineer. This role is based in El Segundo, California, and requires an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Programs access.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems engineering, software architecture, and ground segment integration within the Space Control mission area.
Responsibilities for the Senior Ground Segment Systems Engineer include:- Support and oversee systems engineering activities including requirements definition, interface management, data architecture, verification and validation, integration, performance analysis, and lifecycle cost estimation.
- Develop and manage ground segment technical and interface requirements; lead interface negotiations with external stakeholders.
- Oversee and assess software product backlogs to meet baseline and emerging requirements; provide recommendations to prioritize development and improve implementations.
- Ensure systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions within technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Support development of system engineering artifacts such as CONOPs, requirements definitions, system testing, algorithm documentation, and application interfaces.
- Contribute to acquisition strategy development and provide recommendations to address program execution challenges.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline and 18+ years of experience (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree).
- Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI and Special Programs access
- Experience in:
- Technical program management and systems engineering for Space Systems within the Space Control mission area.
- Modern software development practices including containerization, orchestration, DevSecOps, and Agile methodologies.
- Integration of ground segment systems such as cloud-based infrastructure, PaaS baselines, and antennas.
- Implementation of "Zero-Trust" cybersecurity policies on software and hardware systems.
- Software systems engineering, design, architecture development, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Salary Range: $180,000–$225,000 depending on experience
