Provides support to Clinical providers for the provision of direct patient care.
5)Assists nurse practitioner or physicians with treatments, diagnostic tests and procedures.

6)Prepares and maintains examination and treatment area.

7)Assists with changing into a gown if necessary. In addition, helps patient onto the exam table if necessary.

8)Prepares patient for examination by explaining their visit/procedure.

9)Assists with discharge as directed by the RN or physician.

10)Orient patients to physical setting and emergency procedures

1)Admits patient to examination room, interviews patient as to reason for visit, documents chief complaint (reason for visit) in patient medical record.

2)Monitors and documents patient vitals signs (i.e. temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure), and documents appropriately.

7)Schedules patients, enters charges or messages in the computer system to facilitate efficient and timely response to patient needs.

8)Reinforce patient and family teaching.

9)Prepares patient medical record for their scheduled appointment.

Provide laboratory phlebotomy and processing services as per site control procedures to ensure optimal specimen integrity.
1)Understands and determines the appropriate method of obtaining specimens.

2)Obtains blood specimens using standard precautions by accurately performing heelsticks and fingersticks ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.

3)Performs selected tests that assist with diagnosis and treatment (i.e., urine dip sticks, lead, and urine pregnancy).

4)Appropriately labels each specimen and delivers the specimens to appropriate laboratory area within an established timeframe.

5)Documents completion of lab orders/specimens on the patient chart.

6)Documents lab results and test results appropriately according to department policy.

7)Determines appropriate processing lab based on insurance and managed care guidelines.

8)Batches all information with specimen for pick-up by processing lab if necessary.

9)Print lab reports and distribute according to policy.

10)Appropriately notifies clinical staff of patients experiencing untoward clinical symptoms

Education/Experience Required:

• High School Diploma
• Graduate of accredited Med Asst Cert/Reg program

• 2-3 years experience in ambulatory/medical office

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Ability to use computer for printing results and access patient information.
• Clinically appropriate skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a caring manner
• Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills

• Med Asst Cert/Regcertification
• Current CPR certification Current CDL License or willing to be trained

This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/ Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
