About Us:

At Façade Bakery, we specialize in premium bakery items and gourmet espresso-based beverages. We're looking for an experienced barista who can bring both technical coffee craft and excellent front-of-house service to our vibrant location in Coral Gables.

Role Overview:

As our Barista / Cashier you will be responsible for preparing high-quality espresso-based drinks, operating our POS system (card payments onl), greeting and serving customers, maintaining cleanliness and efficiency behind the counter, and helping maintain the smooth flow of service in a fast-paced bakery café setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers warmly, take orders, and operate the POS (Toast system) to process card payments.
  • Prepare espresso-based beverages following our recipes and standards (e.g., espresso, cappuccino, latte, flat white, etc.).
  • Calibrate and maintain the espresso machine and the grinder: ensure correct grind size, dose, tamp, extraction time, yield, and machine settings.
  • Perform latte art and consistently present drinks with high aesthetic & flavour standards.
  • Knowledge of matcha preparation is a plus (e.g., whisking, temperature control, matcha lattes).
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of your station: wipe down surfaces, clean grinder & espresso machine parts, backflush, discard old milk, keep milk fridge clean, empty drip trays, restock cups/lids/syrups.
  • Monitor workflow and assist with keeping orders moving efficiently and accurately — ability to think and act with common sense, prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Provide excellent customer service: answer questions about beverages, offer friendly suggestions, ensure the customer experience is on point.
  • Work quickly and efficiently, managing volume while maintaining quality and presentation.
  • Assist with opening/closing or shift-side tasks as needed (e.g., loading supplies, storage, cleaning, low-inventory alerts).
  • Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety guidelines (including safe handling of hot beverages, cleaning chemicals, etc.).

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience as a barista (high-volume café/bakery) with strong proven skills on espresso machines and grinders.
  • Advanced understanding of espresso extraction, grinder calibration, machine maintenance.
  • Demonstrable latte art ability (free-pour, rosetta, heart) and pride in presentation.
  • Experience with Toast is a strong plus.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills; friendly, professional demeanor.
  • High level of cleanliness and organization; able to keep a busy station tidy and efficient.
  • Ability to move fast, multitask, and make smart decisions in a dynamic environment; common-sense approach required.
  • Knowledge of matcha beverage preparation.
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings / weekends / peak bakery hours.
  • Food handler's certificate or willingness to obtain one preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 15 per week
