Slot Technician

Role: Responsible for the maintenance of all technical hardware in the slot floor gaming area. Required to maintain monitors, interpret and report on extensive and detailed technical systems and hardware in use within the slot department gaming area. The Slot Techs must also perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Slot Tech Manager. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to manage the day-to-day technical problems within that arise on the slot floor. Ability to learn all aspect of the job as it relates to machine performance
- Possess good problem-solving skills.
- Ensure compliance with all Gaming Control Board regulation
- Comply with all accounting procedures
- Min. of two (2) years of slot technical experience. Experience with Aristocrat systems is a plus.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of mechanics, electronics, and electrical functions of gaming machines.
- Must be able to read and translate wiring diagrams and possess knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals.
- Work with all departments within the company
- Must be literate and able to communicate in English when dealing with staff and guests.
- Ability to follow directions and keep accurate written and computer records
- Ability to operate standard office machines, such as telephones and computers
- Capable of using various electronic test equipment and power tools.
- Possess a good degree of manual dexterity to operate job related equipment
REQUIRED CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- Active Nevada Gaming Board Card
- High school diploma or GED
MAJOR JOB DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
- The Slot Technician must be capable of effectively maintaining and repairing gaming equipment on the slot floor, i.e., machines, signs, cash machines, etc.
- Install, remove, relocate, convert and swap machines as needed.
- Assist vendors as needed.
- Ensure that the department is complying with all Gaming related regulations as they pertain to the operations of gaming devices on the slot floor.
- Must work well with other employees in the slot department, employees from other departments and customers.
- Must be able to learn and grow as technology changes within the department.
- Must have knowledge of electronic and slot equipment.
- Must understand and comply with all company and departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
- Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English.
- Ability to perform intermediate math.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff.

Work is performed in an office environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. A casino environment typically allows smoking.

- Requires prolonged standing, walking, squatting and kneeling.
- Requires frequent bending, crouching, stooping and climbing.
- Requires ability to hear in noisy environment.
- Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Requires lifting items weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Requires use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reaching with hands and arms including above shoulders for long periods.
- Requires eye/hand coordination.
- Requires visual acuity including peripheral, depth perception and ability to discern colors. Must be able to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
- Ability to and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS) and other instructions.
